It`s here – the 2012 Quilt Guild project! An email was sent today to Quilt Guilds across Canada to share the pattern for signature project for 2012 – the Catch of the Day bag. Many thanks to super-creative Karen Miller, well known in these parts for her wonderful art quilts and creative bent, and soon-to-be famous (at Quilt Canada at least) for this great pattern!
The pattern is easy and leaves lots of room for your own creativity. Check it out at the Pattern tab at the top of this page.
Here is my own effort – I really like it but I am going to try another one and let loose with ribbons, sequins and other embellishments to jazz it up!
We`ve also put out the call for the Fat Quarter Exchange, mentioned in a previous post. We`re asking you to share one of your favourite Fat Quarters, put it in a ziploc baggie along with a label (with your address or email), and send it along to the Quilt Canada team. The Fat Quarters will be shared with quilters attending Quilt Canada – and they`ll be asked to let you know how it was used. We hope this will be a great way for quilters across the country to connect with each other.
Fat Quarters and completed Catch of the Day bags can be sent to:
Anna Davison, P.O. Box 294, Mahone Bay, N.S. B0J 2E0
Happy sewing! Till next time.
could the catch of the day be a neat ”shoe” bag?
Yes – it would be a great shoe bag! Or wine bag, a gift bag, or ……. The bag will have lots of interesting uses, we`re sure.
sorry I wasn’t clear with my quiry …
can a glitz or plain shoe on a bag be ”the catch of the day”
or … does the ”catch” have to be ”fish”
Sorry, I misunderstood the question. We really want to stay true to the Catch of the Day theme and are asking quilters to choose one of the fish templates provided and show us what they can do with it. Hope this helps!
When do the bags and fat quarters need to be mailed to you?
Important question – thank you for asking! April 25, 2012 is the deadline for all fat quarters and Catch of the Day bags – that will give us the time we need to get them ready for distribution at Quilt Canada.
