Let`s Start With the ABC`s….

You’ve already had a peek at our International Teachers and now it`s time to introduce you to our remaining teachers – all Canadian, all skilled quilters, all ready to share their expertise with you at Quilt Canada 2012.

We`ll start alphabetically, introducing those whose first name starts with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’.  More will follow in a later post.

 Ana Buzzalino is an award winning fiber artist and quilt instructor based in Calgary, Alberta. She has honed her skills through workshops with other renowned quilt and fiber artists and at the Alberta College of Arts and Design. Ana has been teaching quilting techniques for 22 years including machine quilting, and a focus on a personal favourite, New York Beauty quilts. Her current focus in on Art quilts, incorporating different elements for surface texture.

 

Anna Davison has been quilting for over 30 years and takes great pleasure in sharing her experience and creativity through her quilt workshops and design packages. Anna is well known in Nova Scotia quilting circles for her teaching, her generous donations of raffle quilts, participation in quilting exhibitions and work on commissioned quilts. In Anna`s own words:

Anna Hergert describes herself as a visual artist with a focus on textiles. The lengthy list of quilting and teaching credits on her web site demonstrate her many accomplishments in this field and show that she is in demand as a teacher. With at least six solo exhibitions in Canada, the U.S. and Germany to her credit, Anna has participated in numerous juried group exhibitions, receiving many awards. She has been featured in quilting-related television and print media. She is a certified quilt judge and shares her love of fibre art through her monthly newsletter Connecting Design Threads .

You may recall Anne Morrell Robinson, who we introduced in a previous post that focused on her contribution to the theme Seams Like Home for 2012. Anne is a prolific quilter and pattern designer, with more than 500 quilts to her credit since she began quilting in 1971. Many of those quilts were commissioned for both public places and for private homes. She specializes in applique quilts with a nature theme as a common element. Anne is also a well-rounded crafter with hooked rugs, clothing, floor cloths and dolls included in her many accomplishments. Through her teaching, Anne takes the opportunity to share her passion for the fibre arts.

Born in Toronto, Barbara Robson has lived in Nova Scotia for over 45 years. She has been quilting, teaching and exhibiting her quilts for 38 years. Her quilts can be found in private collections in Canada, the US and England and in a number of public collections in Nova Scotia. Barb`s quilting revolves around her appreciation for tradition and history. In particular, she is fascinated by the use of fabrics and geometrics in old quilts and the effect they have on her and on other contemporary quiltmakers.

Barbara is the proud recipient of the Silver Thimble Award, an Honourary Membership from the Mayflower Quilters Guild and the Dorothy McMurdie Award from the Canadian Quilters Association.

Fiber art in quilting is Coreen Zerr`s passion. She has won awards and received much recognition for her work in the U.S. and Canada. A resident of British Columbia, she has made and donated over 50 raffle quilts, and has produced a number of quilts on commission. Coreen is a sought after teacher who excites her students into creating their own masterpieces.

Her most recent achievement was winning the Manitoba 2010 Homecoming quilt competition and having the quilt displayed at the 2010 Olympics in Manitoba House at Vancouver, BC. This quilt has also been juried into AQS Paducah 2011.
